FAQs: Insurance

  • Will my insurance cover an online visit?

The online consultation with the provider is considered telemedicine and is covered by most medical insurance policies. Typically, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna, and United Healthcare now cover telemedicine visits. However, coverage is also dependent on the type of plan you have with your insurance carrier.

Other insurance companies are poised to cover telemedicine so check with your carrier. Currently, Medicare only covers this service for residents of Hawaii and Alaska.

  • Why do I have to pay a fee if I submit my insurance information?

Your provider cannot immediately determine if your insurance covers your online visit. If it is covered, you will be reimbursed for the difference between your online payment and your insurance co-payment.

Please see Cost & Insurance for more information.

  • When can I expect a refund if my insurance covered my HealthLens visit?

It can take up to several weeks for a refund to be issued following a HealthLens visit. If it has been more than 4 weeks since your HealthLens visit was completed and still have not received a refund, please contact your provider directly for more information.
